Devlin (Develin)

What — Pirate "deck wizard" / arcane caster of Roger Payton's crew; small-statured. Captured, now a prisoner of war in Fort Foothold custody.

Threat — Moderate. High-burst control caster (one sculpted blast nearly dropped a PC), but physically fragile ("squishy little body"), low on slots, and unwilling to die — folds fast once cornered.

Observed abilities (all Session 10):

Tactics & behavior — Standoff caster: opens with a sculpted AoE, then prioritizes survival — fog, disengage, Shield on his weakest slot. Fights through allies safely thanks to sculpting. Cracks under pressure: once his best moves failed against a charm-immune attacker, he dropped focus and spellbook and surrendered. Explicitly "not willing to die for this."

Resistances / immunities / weaknesses — None observed. Weakness: very low durability and no melee; goes down or gives up quickly once reached.

Counter — Hard-countered by Fenric / spellbreakers: immunity to charm/enchantment shut down his command spell, and a melee threat in his face forced surrender. Close the distance and his options collapse.

Disposition to the party — Currently neutral/cooperative prisoner. Surrendered to Fenric rather than die; claims he never hurt Tegrak and joined the crew only within the last decade; wants rehabilitation via the Mage's Society. History: his crew brutalized and killed Vernon Cleave's father (he witnessed it). Could turn hostile if freed or pressed.

Gaps — No save DC, spell levels (beyond the 1st-level Shield slot), AC, or HP ever stated. True species unknown — even his own Identity spell on others returned no species/items, and GM lore notes his spell mastery is suspicious for a pirate ("either self-taught and brilliant or was something else entirely"). Possibly more dangerous than observed if he held back.

Status — Alive; prisoner of war in Fort Foothold custody under Sergeant Dayhorn, last seen Session 11.

SUMMARY: Fragile sculpting fire-mage; surrenders fast, hard-countered by Fenric and spellbreakers.
