Squire Faethlyn
Eldrich the Elder's personal bodyguard — a young woman in shiny steel plate, long flowing blonde hair to the middle of her back, with pale, pallid, almost vampire-adjacent skin (yet visibly comfortable in daylight). Eldrich vouches for her completely. Combat-extraordinary but socially green and a rigid keeper of the Knight's Code: she holds the orthodox line that changelings and shapeshifters are dangerous Veilwood monsters to be kept in (or killed), "no exceptions." Eldrich — fondly — says she "has much to learn" and "must sharpen her thinking mind." Now travels in his caravan beyond the Palisade.
(Name heard as "Faethlyn" / "Squire Faethlyn" and once garbled toward "Squire Faethlyn" — spelling unconfirmed.)
Session 21
- Introduced at the booth restaurant sitting beside Eldrich the Elder at the Shard hand-off; the party briefly mistakes her for his granddaughter (his family is said to have died in the wars).
- Pressed by Lash on what she'd do about a friendly shapeshifter, she recites the Knight's Code's hard line against changelings — prompting Eldrich to gently note she still thinks like a student, not yet for herself.
- Sent to "guard the door" so the party could privately brief Eldrich on the released changeling; she sulks at the bar behind a deliberate curtain of hair.
- Travels out with the caravan; later seen making stilted small-talk with Squire Rowan.
Session 22
- At the Mindel Cromelon bridge, steps forward and puts a hand on Eldrich the Elder's shoulder to steady him when Mindel taunts that his "slain" children may still be alive — a rare softening of her rigid bearing.
Session 32
- With the caravan in Ponterford, greets the party warmly at the Speak Loudly ("worried at first, reassured at second") and checks privately on Lash after the cave ordeal — alarmed that "a common craftsperson" is fighting thousand-armed ancient monsters, and offering to rescue her from the group. Reassured when Lash insists she's fine being the bait (and pops a regrown finger to prove it). Mildly horrified the party uses Lash as bait at all.
Session 38
- Sent by Eldrich the Elder — alongside Rowaine — onto the Guardian of the Woods hunt as an audition (the party must report who fought better). She gears up confidently and, blind in the dirt cloud, holds an action to Bless the party; her steady "it's me, Squire Faethlyn" is the one reliable voice in the murk.
Session 45
- Caravan guard. Rides escort on Eldrich the Elder's caravan out of Ponterford; dismounts to help when the party engages the zombie horse on the road.
- The road-cleaner. After the corpse-explosion, lashes a second handle to a shovel and, from 10 ft away, shovels up and buries the zombie gore one square at a time — keeping the spreading blight from infecting later travellers.
