Belbermont

The acting mayor of Ponterford and owner of the lumber mill — an elephant-folk man installed in his station not by election (the town has no real democracy) but by Laewendas, to keep war-wood flowing upstream to Cathalon's siege machines. Per the lawyer Edgar Wy, he ranks second only to Laewendas in the town's power structure, above both the sheriff Sheriff Jeremiah Falconer and the guard captain "Schniepel". His mill's loggers cut King Ringo's frog-folk trees with impunity because the guards he effectively controls look the other way.

The greedy "head honcho" behind the frog-folk's troubles, named by Pretty Patrick and others as the real problem (the rank-and-file mill workers being mostly decent). The party leans toward a covert approach — openly toppling him would only bring Laewendas's army to reinstall him.

(Never appears on screen yet. Name badly garbled — "Belbemon," "Belbermont," "Belvermont," "Elbermont," even "Bergamo" — current guess Belbermont.)
