Mama Badeedle

What — The larger, egg-laying matriarch of a badeedle brood: same half-bird, half-beetle build as her drones but noticeably bigger and faster, leading the colony nesting under the Menagoles mine cliff. A new Mama is produced when the strongest drone pupates. First and only met Session 49.

Threat — Low–moderate. A pest boss, not a trained foe; dangerous mainly as the brood's anchor and as a noise hazard near the mine guards.

Observed abilities (Session 49)

• Tremorsense — detects approach through the ground (shared brood trait); no stealth on her turf.
• Heard before seen — louder/larger than the drones, announcing herself across the fight.
• Two-armed rake (slashing) + beak (piercing) multiattack; if both claws connect she tries to bite/peck the head.
• Alarm whine — the brood's high-pitched "silent scream," absorbed by terrain at range.
• High HP for a badeedle — sat at the top of the brood's wildly varied range (~60+).

Resistances / weaknesses (Session 49)

• Resistance to slashing (carapace); bludgeoning and piercing bite through better.
• No tactical sense: poor at opportunity attacks, can be circled freely.

Tactics & behavior — Holds the nest and rallies the drones, who largely fight only because she does. Killing her breaks the brood's loyalty — outer drones burrow away, only zealots fight on.

Disposition to the party — Hostile; defending nest and fresh eggs.

Status — Dead (Session 49). Dropped by Jex's 44-damage volley during the deliberately silent cliff fight (no alarm raised). A Magra Nature check (17) found she had laid a fresh egg nest that day, left undisturbed; Lash had earlier tamed one drone (Burrito) as a would-be successor Mama. Her chitinous shell could make ~15-AC armour, but the party is past that tier.

SUMMARY: The egg-laying matriarch of the Menagoles-cliff badeedle brood — bigger, faster, slashing-resistant — killed by Jex in Session 49's silent fight, leaving a fresh untouched egg nest.
