Polos

The friendly, talkative member of the hidden Foredweller research facility beneath the Middle Tor — the voice on the far side of the sealed door when the party first knocked, and the one who ran the personality quiz that got them let in. Not from Rivalon: he has "been to the Acropolis in summer," which he offers as small talk to strangers who might be about to kill everyone he works with. Of seventeen scientists, he is the one Dr. Xiao Li picks to travel out with her — not the waterway specialist Marge, who wanted no part of a dragon.

Session 52 (met)

• Vetted the party through the deep doors with personality-quiz questions ("how quickly do you anger?") before Dr. Xiao Li opened the airlock, and bonded with Thalia over both having been to the Acropolis — her in winter, him in summer.

Session 54

• The plus-one. Leaves the facility with Dr. Xiao Li and Magra to rejoin the party, and is the scientist accompanying them out of the mountain to meet the resistance.
• Last in line is scary too. Visibly nervous in the mine tunnels; gives Thalia a grateful thumbs-up when she takes up position behind him so he isn't at the back of the marching order. Kept well clear of the dragon fight.
• Names the Dragon War. When Lash brings up the story that Laewendas flew a dragon and killed every other dragon in the world, it is Polos who supplies the title: "They call it the Dragon War." Lash's immediate suspicion — why does a man from the Acropolis know Rivalonian propaganda? — goes unanswered.

Session 55

• Level 2, no weapons, correctly terrified. When the Morkid drops out of the tunnel ceiling he panics into Lash, crushing her against the door, then spends his action swapping places with her, drops prone and rolls a 6 trying to hide. The GM notes he has a club and the ability to swing it, which is more than Dr. Xiao Li can manage.
• Put in the hat. Thalia simply picked him up and posted him into the hat — no explanation offered beforehand ("they don't know what you mean by that"), just "hold on to the brambles!" and a wump. He came out with a review: "It's not good. There's no air." Cause established under questioning — he was screaming the whole way in.
• Cleared up about the mail. Told Thalia keeps her tea set and a load of undelivered post in the hat, he covered his mouth in alarm — and removed the hand when she clarified that she does not deliver mail, because that would be illegal, which is precisely why it remains undelivered.
