Cathalon
Capital of Rivalon — and the enemy's seat: the traitor queen Laewendas is
stationed here with her bandit kings. Killing her and restoring the rightful
Sovereign Ysolde to the Cathalon throne is the Reclamation's number-one priority in
Rivalon.
Session 6
- Confirmed during settlement planning as "the hostile capital"; the parallel
adventuring group intends to harry it Robin-Hood-style from a forest-lake base. - The party flirted with settling close enough to "wave at" its territory — and
with claiming its bridges "after we kill Laewendas."
Session 39
- A possible back-door. The Varian spy Timothy Leisten reports that the underground river in Laewendas's upstream cave (near Ponterford) can, if restored to its old channel, be reverse-flowed into Cathalon's capital sewers — a potential infiltration route into the enemy capital, banked for the eventual assault.
- One of Laewendas's chief generals stationed against the Reclamation, Garruk the Red, is reported dead (see Laewendas).
Session 44
- The strategic frame. At Eldrich the Elder's war council, Cathalon is reaffirmed as the endgame — Laewendas's seat in the king's castle and "the heart of the army." The coming operation targets Lambert's Crossing (on the main road to Cathalon) precisely so Laewendas can't retreat and fortify there once the capital is besieged. The party's route to it runs through the great woods north of Cathalon, skirting the city itself ("out in the open straight in front of the castle" being suicide).
