Dee
A small, living wood/plant creature (creature type simply "plant") found at Gravis's fire deep in the Grey Vale Cave — one of the "little men made of wood with glowing eyes" Jaxley warned were creeping about the cavern. Animate and alive (not reanimated), child-like, with no grasp of time or days. He is searching for his mother, Rolo — described only as "like me but bigger," "mama sweet." Valmora nicknamed him "Dee" and bonded with him over crackers; Thalia used Speak with Plants to talk to him and adopted him into her mail bag. At least two such sprouts exist — a second was found tossed inside the smugglers' chest like cargo.
(Names spoken once each — "Dee," and the mother "Rolo"; spellings unconfirmed. See Canon Questions.)
Session 24
- Found at Gravis's fire; the necromancer says he "just turned up one day," sits by the fire, and bothers him.
- Thalia (Speak with Plants) learns he's lost his "mama" Rolo; the party agrees to help find her, and he climbs into Thalia's bag ("+1 sprout").
- Jex finds a second sprout inside the hidden smugglers' chest behind the boulder.
Session 25
- His kind's home found: the Woodling Den, a warren of 3.5-ft plant-folk led by the "Queen Woodling" Lorto, who senses all her scattered children. The two earlier-rescued sprouts (including Dee) are returned to the den.
- The party gathers seven more faceless sprouts from the Mush Mother's chamber (lost wood-children she'd taken in) and carries them back, reuniting the wood family. The faceless young are blind and never grow without the den.
- Lorto's standing quest: find 3 still-missing sprouts and 1 missing adult woodling. (Whether "Rolo," Dee's lost "mama," is Lorto or another is still unconfirmed.)
