Previously on Reclaiming Orathos
Nightfall at the Snatcher's Cave — and at last we meet the rest of the Varian Trio: Pimothy in his Snatcher plate, the eight-foot lion-man Pavid (sweet, simple, takes a knife with a thumbs-up), and the goth animatrix Patricia. Thalia's Primeval Awareness lights up the whole place: magma elementals, turned fae, a pack of undead, a glowing boss in a sealed vault — and something colossal, a demigod statue the Candleman serves.
Scuba plan? Dead — the river crocodile saw to that. So we work the dry crypt room by room. We herd lost magma babies home to their mother, spook a rat-in-a-skeleton, and butcher four gem-hoarding skeleton businessmen who lost the key to their own vault. We meet Abigail, the starved revenge-ghost of a Snatcher victim — and strike a deal with the Ghoul of Gythfield, "Rusty," who never strikes first.
Rusty's warnings are chilling: the Candleman is a dead god's avatar, and every kill takes something unnamed.
Now the boss doors stand open. Six wights, an odd seventh, and the dungeon-lord asleep in his tub. He wakes this week.
