Lambert's Crossing

The most fortifiable cityscape in Rivalon — an impenetrable centre of River Pontar fortification, built to draw out a long siege — sitting on a direct main road to Cathalon, where Laewendas hides in the king's castle. Per Eldrich the Elder, it is the one place Laewendas could retreat to and fortify, turning a single siege of the capital into two wars ("a second siege may prove too much"). An ancient battle-site of the Elder race lies near it.

It is currently held — but not used as a true fortress — by the warband barbarian Knucklebones and her roving raiders, who Laewendas tasked with keeping the Veilwood and Atollia borders at bay. Removing Lambert's Crossing as a retreat option (by toppling Knucklebones) is Eldrich the Elder's next operation and the party's coming objective.
