Mindel Cromelon
The Southlander bandit lord serving Laewendas — long a rumored name, now seen in the flesh. The Southlands around the Palisade were her granted "slice of the pie" until the Reclamation reclaimed much of it, which (per Dominus) is why she preys on the roads and tries to choke the Reclamation's supply lines. Confirmed elven: long brown braids spilling from scalp to neck around long pointed ears, a mix of medium and heavy armor, a spellbook at her side and a wand pressed to her throat that booms her voice across a valley. She carries herself with smug, theatrical menace.
Her name first surfaced on a looted letter in Session 10 ("Mindel Cromelon"), was confirmed as the Southlander bandit lord by Dominus in Session 12, and the spelling still drifts (Mindel Cromelon / Mindel Cromelon / Cromelan).
Session 21
- Sprang the session's cliffhanger ambush. As Eldrich the Elder's caravan crossed a stone bridge over a river beyond the wall, her crossbowmen revealed themselves on the high ground and club-goons blocked both ends.
- Stepped into view and boomed her demand: drop the carts, drop the bags, drop the weapons — "or we'll skin you alive." Eldrich mutters her name with grudging respect; the squires curse it.
- The standoff (parley, fight, or surrender) carries into the next session.
Session 22
- Settled the standoff by toll. She lets Eldrich the Elder confer, refuses his offer of honorable single combat, and bargains: she takes three of the caravan's carts and none of the boat — unaware Liv & Viv swap the scientist's cart out of the three. Then she opens the road and lets them pass.
- Recognizes Eldrich and twists the knife: "Looking for your kids, I guess… [your children dead is] not true. Did you watch them die?" — either pure cruelty or a coded hint that his children live (Thalia's insight can't tell which).
- Thalia reads her as young, capable, and opportunistic, born and raised into Laewendas's bandit-lord society, never having known a free Rivalon; a "little rat" worn thin on soldiers and patience, who may yet follow the party's tracks and hit them at night.
- Her territory ends just up the road, giving way to the giant Cormoran's — a sign of how much ground she's lost to the Reclamation.
