Oldham

A town on the plains north of the Middle Tor, and now burned-out, scorched ruins. The party sees it for the first time in Session 55, from the abandoned staging camp at the back of the mine — across the fields, in the distance, on the day they finally climb out of the mountain.

Nothing else about it is known: not who burned it, not when, and not whether anyone survived. Nobody in the party or among the travelling scientists remarks on the name, and the group turns the other way, back toward the Menagoles through the woods.

Some fifteen miles further out from the same vantage stands a second great wood, briefly mistaken for the one the party came from until the gap between them is spotted on the map.

• Seen and named, not approached. The party's route back to the Menagoles deliberately avoids both the burned town and the shorter road past Lambert's Crossing, where Knucklebones's mounted warband rides.
