Previously on Reclaiming Orathos

It's the morning of the hunt, and the party loads up on everything that ends in "-anti": antitoxins, antivenoms, and — per a deadpan druid — a live anteater in a vial that Thalia christens Tony. They recruit a war-band: the dwarven War Maiden Yngraf, two of Eldrich's squires auditioning for his favour, and the lodge orcs Varg and Algrimmar. The owl wizard Renforth scrys the quarry — a plant creature that should have no venom at all, yet has laced itself with mushroom poison, lashing out because the war's lumberjacks only take now.

Eight miles north, fae-animated mushroom folk reveal the truth: the beast is their Guardian of the Woods, and it hunts anyone carrying wood — the corpses of its kin. Refused an alliance, the party baits it out — and gets ambushed in a blinding dirt cloud. The Guardian monologues, then sprays venomous needles that terminally poison Silithane: three days to live. Then Fenric breaks its concentration, the dust falls — and combat freezes mid-swing.

Next session: finish the fight, and harvest that venom sac before Silithane rots.

SUMMARY: An energetic present-tense recap of Session 38 — the anteater, the war-band, the mushroom-folk reveal, and the cliffhanger fight that leaves Silithane three days from death.
