Miner's Expedition Journal

The Menagoles dig crew's working record and map of the deep tunnels — every passage they cut, every one they collapsed by accident, and every corridor annotated stop going this way, only bad things happened when we dug here. Recovered by the party in Session 54 from a chamber near the mine's living quarters, and carried out with them.

Distinct from the eight-page Menagoles Mine Journal (the compilation of the operation's official records — the union minutes, the mage's crystal survey, Vara'nak Gar-Galdar's testimony). This one is the diggers' own field document: where the holes are.

What it records

• The full tunnel map of the deep dig, room by room, with the collapsed and forbidden branches marked.
• What killed people where. One passage is logged as a worm skeleton the crew dug up, which rose, killed several miners, and had its tunnel blown down on top of it to stop it following.
• The dragon room is on it — but nothing past it. The two digs that reached the dragon are what caused the fire, and after that nobody was writing anything down.
• The hobby dig off the living quarters: a miner tunnelling in his own time in a direction the crew didn't believe in, the collapse that killed him, and the crew's shrug — "we don't even think that's the right way anyway." His Gravity Gauntlets were still down there.

Session 54 (recovered)

• Found one room too late. By the time the party read it, they had already been to all but two of the rooms on it — the supply store and the living quarters, both cleared the same evening.
• Dr. Xiao Li read it as a dating tool. Her team's north tunnel appears nowhere on the map, and the miners' own routes wander like people who didn't know where they were going. Her conclusion: the scientists were sent after the fire and the disaster, not alongside it.
