The Tapped Clapper
The Menagoles' largest tavern, by the central goblin-wizard fountain — one of only two places in the occupied town that take outsiders (the other being the east-side church). It is named for its resident one-man-band drummer, a mid-20s performer who plays the place to life beneath a rain-canopy he keeps up even indoors. The bustling ground floor seats ~75–100, and the whole operation is run almost single-handed by the cat-folk keeper Isilme (with one cook at the kitchen window). Rooms upstairs are for hire. Crucially, its hidden back room — off the public-toilet corridor — is Eldrich the Elder's secret war-council base while the party works the Menagoles.
Session 49 (visited)
- The party loops through the packed tavern looking for Eldrich the Elder; Isilme welcomes them, the drummer hammers away, and Thalia is found chatting up the goblin tour guide in a corner.
- A recognised guard winks and gestures past the toilets; after Lash's slapstick search of the bathroom, Pavid opens the hidden door to Eldrich's set-up — a figurine map-table, locked strongbox, hidden cabinet, war-tactics bookshelves and a bed, where the concealed Doctor (Dr. Provostinalkov) finally emerges.
- Eldrich the Elder holds his war council here, setting the party on the mines and the Knucklebones operation. The party long-rests in two hired rooms before marching north.
